World Spine Day is October 16.
It is a day set aside to raise awareness about spinal disorders as part of the Bone and Joint Health Awareness Week. Millions of people around the world suffer spinal disorders. Spinal disorders can include lower back pain, cervical or neck pain, scoliosis, and degenerate disc disease, but may not be limited to these. Spinal pain can affect a person’s overall health. It can lead to disability. The theme for World Spine Day 2016 is “Straighten Up and Move.” The theme promotes body awareness and hopes to reduce the day-to-day wear and tear on people’s spines. Proper posture is very important for maintaining great spinal health. Exercise is a good option if you are experiencing back pain. Exercise increases blood flow that may improve your pain.
