National Nurse Practitioner Week is November 13 to November 16.
CompassionCare Hospice appreciates the hard work and dedication of the nation’s nurse practitioners. NP Week is not only a great opportunity to recognize the many contributions of nurse practitioners, but also to promote awareness of NPs as well. It is a great time to reflect on the important roles nurse practitioners play in today’s health care environment and the critical roles they will play in the future.
Today, there are over 220,000 well-educated and highly skilled nurse practitioners licensed in the United States. NPs have the honor and privilege of providing help and supporting patients and families during some of the happiest and some of the most challenging moments of their lives. NPs bring a holistic focus to their patient’s health. Their holistic view is comprehensive of their patient’s family and loved ones. In addition to providing a full range of services, NPs work as partners with their patients, guiding them to make educated health care decisions and healthy lifestyle choices. Nurse Practitioners have additional responsibilities for administering patient care than registered nurses or RNs. NPs can prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment, much like physicians do.
Thank you for all that you do!
