Thank you, Giovanni!
Today, we would like to shine a spotlight on Giovanni Rivera in honor of National Nursing Assistants Week! His passion for what he does is one of the many things that makes us so proud to call him part of our team at CompassionCare Hospice.
“I became a CNA because I wanted to have an impact on the lives of my patients. The majority of my family is in the nursing field, and after hearing stories of how rewarding it is to provide care for their patients, I followed suit. It has been the best decision I have ever made in my life. I’ve been a CNA almost 7 years now and it has definitely been a life learning experience. I have worked in almost every setting from assisted livings, nursing homes, to the hospital on the oncology unit. I’ve learned so much through the years, from my patients as well as my colleagues. But Hospice always stood out to me, and I knew it was something I wanted to try. Hospice has taught me the full circle of life, being able to accept what life throws at you, and learning to accept what life has to offer. Helping families accept the beauty of end of life, and to help them have peace is indescribable. I am proud to be part of the CCH team!”
What It’s All About
Giovanni’s words are a perfect testament to what hospice care is all about. Choosing hospice care can be a difficult decision for patients and their families to make. They often feel as though it means they are giving up. However, choosing hospice does not mean giving up. As he so beautifully put it, choosing hospice means accepting the beauty of end of life. Thank you, Giovanni, for doing what you do with so much love and compassion and for reminding us what it’s all about!
